We can fill a hole with asphalt (cold patch), plant a tree or shrub, install small pieces of armour stone in your garden, rake up and remove your fall leaves, or even hang your Christmas lights! Just contact Linda in the office and we can provide you with a free estimate.

There is no job that is too small or big for TNT.

We Can Fix Your Draining Problem
Sometimes it is just a grading issue; other times, the installation of weeping tile or a 'French drain' is required. Water can be redirected away from foundations, downspouts can drain under walkways (less ice build up), and soaked areas can drain freely back into the ground, all with the help of our dedicated staff.

Here at TNT, we want to be your stormwater experts. Rob Tester has a strong desire to protect our environment and waterways, taking extra specialized courses in permeable pavements, rain gardens and Smart About Salt initiatives. Rob sits on the Expert Panel for Stormwater Management with RAIN/REEP. As such, we are kept current with new trends and have the firsthand knowledge to create landscape designs to help you get your stormwater tax rebates. We install rain gardens, drywells, cisterns and permeable pavements – all great ways to solve water problems on your property.

Is Your Business Prepared?
Have you heard of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act? By 2017, all companies must be in compliance with the Act. Rob is actively quoting accessible ramps for businesses. Ramps made out of interlocking pavements and installed with a heat system make your project not only Act compliant, but also environmentally friendly (avoiding costly and damaging salts in the winter) and provides the best warranties (some stones have 50+ years warranties).

Dethatching
A lawn comber is a vertical tine machine designed to remove dead thatch and level off small bumps in turf areas. Lawn rolling compresses the root system in turf areas, often destroying new root growth and creating the need to aerate. After lawn combing, seed can also be applied to thinning turf areas in order to produce a thicker lawn, thus inhibiting weed growth.

Lawn Maintenance Programs

With a commitment to environmental stewardship, TNT has created a program was created with environmentally friendly products that are manufactured locally:

● Base Program: 4 fertilizer applications – early spring, early summer, late summer and fall.
● Premium Program: 4 fertilizer applications, with a combination of core aeration, Easy-Flo® compost, and
   overseeding in late spring.

Fertilizers
Nutrite® fertilizers are a 100% natural, homogeneous product containing calcium. They are derived from blood meal, composted poultry manure, and natural sulphate of potash. Lawn requirements determine which fertilizer we use: spring (10-2-2), summer (7-2-3), fall (4-3-8) or weed seed inhibitor and fertilizer mix (8-0-4).

Core Aeration
Aeration will help get oxygen and water to the root system. Core aerating will help break up compaction and bring microbial life to the surface. When the cores are brought to the surface they act as a form of topdressing, as well. Aerating also helps to thicken up the turf – by cutting the root rhizomes, new grass blades are grown. Overseeding is ideal after aerating.

Easy-Flo® Compost
Easy-Flo® compost is a pelletized compost made from leaves and yard waste. This product is easily applied through a spreader to increase the organic matter in your soil and stimulate microbial activity. Microorganisms help your soil function as they break down the thatch layer, taking away a home for surface insects to thrive and allowing your soil to breathe. Increasing the organic matter in your soil by 1% will increase your drought tolerance by 50%.

What Are N-P-K & Their Roles in Fertilizer?
All fertilizers use a three-number rating system, like 15-15-15. The first number represents nitrogen, the second is phosphorous, and the third is potassium (or potash). These numbers are percentages of the total ingredients in the bag.

Nitrogen:
  • Essential for growth of foliage.
  • Produces lush, tender, green leaves (or grass blades).
  • Deficiency results in a yellow-green color (chlorosis) and little or no growth.
  • Flushes through the soil easily.

Phosphorous:
  • Stimulates root growth.
  • Hastens the maturity of plants.
  • Promotes development of flowers, fruits, seeds.
  • Deficiency can result in slow or stunted growth and purplish discoloration on leaves.
  • Remains in the soil quite well.

Potassium:
  • Gives vigor to tolerate changing weather conditions.
  • Helps resist disease.
  • Assists in the food manufacturing process.
  • Strengthens cell wall structure for strong stems.
  • Deficiency can cause weak stems and slow growth.
  • Leaches from the soil, not as fast as nitrogen.

Advantages of mulching:
  • Protects the soil from erosion.
  • Reduces compaction from the impact of heavy rains.
  • Conserves moisture, reducing the need for frequent watering.
  • Maintains a more even soil temperature.
  • Prevents weed growth.
  • Keeps feet clean, allowing access to garden even when damp.
  • Provides a finished look to the garden and excellent curb appeal.
